Abstract (EN)
The international community have been engaging more actively in failed states such as Haiti and Afghanistan, therefore, Somalia as a failed state, since the collapse of the Siyad Barre dictatorship in 1991 provides a number of interesting insights into the influences of external actors on state-building. Enormous external efforts have been made by the international community to establish a formal central state in Somalia while they have seemed increasingly involved in providing various forms of support and developments assistances to the state-building process through bilateral, multilateral, and non-government organizations. However, in the process of state reconstruction, the international donor's assistances play a very important role in enabling the government to deliver the public services effectively. This is not a new political strategy, since the formation of the first republic in 1960 from the union of the British protectorate Somaliland and Italian protectorate Somaliland, Somalia has been always dependent on foreign aids to balance its operations and development budgetary. Therefore, the study is aimed to investigate the role of foreign aids in the Somali state-building efforts and attempted to answer the main study question of what is the role of foreign aids in the Somali state-building? And to examine this, multiple regressions have been employed as the study concludes that there is a significant relationship between foreign aid and state-building efforts in Somalia. The study also found out that the ongoing process of the state-reconstructing is dependent heavily on foreign aids granted by the international donors
