Glass in Anatolia in the Roman Period

ABSTRACTGlass has been discovered and used since 3. million B.C.E. It?s solid and hard in the nature, but it is threated by the human being to use miscallenous purposes. It?s pointed out that the glasswares are used for precious materials in daily life and the life after death by the archaeological excavations. Glassworking has been important in Anatolia since 2. million B.C.E.Our aim is to study the importance the glassworking and glasswares in ancient Anatolian art and to examine the techniques and forms. Consequently, we studied the materials according to the ancient regions of the ancient Anatolia. It?s proved that the glass production in Anatolia by the excavations of the glass workshops. Though the lots of glass materials are in museums of Türkiye, it?s noteworthy the publications are few.Ancient Anatolia became the province of the Roman Imperial period and was influenced by the Roman glassworking. It?s established that the great glassware production and exportation was in the ancient cities of the western, northern and southern Anatolia. Close parallels are found in ancient Egypt, Syria, Cyprus and Rhodos.
