Abstract (EN)
Keywords: Wind Energy, Wind Turbines, Power Quality, Renewable Energy, Wind Power Plant, Wind Potential Wind has been traditionally used for the purposes of water pumping, grain grinding and moving of sea vehicles. Nowadays, wind energy which is also used for generating electrical energy, is a kind of renewable energies. This study focuses on wind energy and its quality. In first chapter the state of wind energy throughout the world and in our country is told. In the second chapter of this thesis wind is defined and in the third chapter detailed information about wind turbines is given. The effects of wind power plants on transmission and distribution system, the quality of the generated energy, advantages and disadvantages of the wind energy are discussed in the fourth chapter. Chapter five deals with the important issues such as the region determination in implementing wind energy projects, cost analysis, wind analysis datum and government promotions. Finally, in sixth chapter Turkey?s wind energy potential is tried to determine. This study encourages the widespread use of electrical energy generation from wind energy and it also emphasizes that the generated energy should be much reliable and higher in quality. xii
