A research about woodworks on traditional houses in Safranbolu Yoruk village

Yörük village, located in the countryside of Safranbolu, which has preserved the originality from past to present and incorporates important examples of Anatolian traditional housing architecture, is one of the most important representatives of cultural and historical values as a world heritage. This work; consist of detecting the characteristics of the wooden door and window joinery which located in traditional buildings of Safranbolu Yörük Village. In the first part of the thesis consists of five parts, the importance and purpose of the subject are mentioned. Information on the method that used is given, and the scope of this study is given. In the second part, information on geographical characteristics, climate, historical development, and settlement characteristics of Safranbolu and Yörük Village were obtained from written sources. In the third section; information about material and method of research is given. In the material part of the research, information about the architectural, structural and facade characteristics of the Yörük Village traditional houses were given. In the method part, the structural, formal, and complementary features of the woodworks as well as information about the types of deterioration occurring in the wooden material are given. In the fourth chapter, research findings are presented. In the last section, evaluations have been made for the whole study and suggestions have been made regarding the conservation of traditional residential architecture of Yörük Village.
