The relationship between burnout syndrome in medical workers and their personality traits

Abstract (EN)

This study aims to investigate the relationship between burnout syndrome in medical workers and their personality traits. In the research, personality traits and burnout levels in 301 physicians and nurses who work in two state and one private hospitals have been studied. It is important to establish a proper communication with a patient in health sector whether it is a state or private institution. This is closely related to the personality traits and burnout levels in medical workers. Attribute-based Personality Scale and Maslach Burnout Scale have been used in the research. Reliability and validity analyses, frequency analysis, correlation and regression analysis, independent sample t test, one-way variance analysis, Tukey and LSD tests have been used in analysing the data. The research revealed that a relationship exists between personality traits of medical workers and their low levels of bornout and that personality traits of the workers and burnout depended on the type of institutions they work at and demographic variants.
