A research on healthy nutrition and teachers perception on it

Research was realized with the aim of investigating the teachers? perception of healthy nutrition concept and the factors it is effected by, which surveys 208 teachers including 97 male and 111 female, who works in Şile in İstanbul.In this study, Random Sampling Method applied and survey forms were used in the context of research for the theachers. The percentage and the frequency of the distrubution of data which was obtained via the survey form were taken, the ki-square test was applied to the data. In order to make the teachers? preferances clear, the average of the importance point over the teachers? who took part in the survey was taken for each factor and so as to ease the interpretation, the smallest value was rearranged to symbolize the least important factor, while the biggest value represents the most. In the research, signifance level was assessed as .05.As result of the research:1) It is seen that most of the teachers consider the healthy nutrition is important %95.6 (M: %97.9, F: %93.7) whereas very few of them consider it is not %4.4 (M: %2.1, F: %6.3).2) It is determined that the first three factors those affect the teachers? food selection are the quality and freshness of it(1st place), the taste(2nd place), high vitamin values(3rd place). The factors which the teachers pay attention the least are the brand, the representation and the packaging, customs and beliefs and the advertisement.3) It is established that the teachers perceive the healthy nutrition as first fresh and natural food, second consuming fruit and vegatable more, third stabilisation and diversity.4) While investigating the preventions on healthy nutrition, it is determined that lack of time ranges first(%62.9), intense life style the second(%57.2) and the dislike of some food?s smell or appearance ranges third.
