Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to compare muscle and fascia-oriented application with joint-oriented application in healthy individuals and to evaluate the acute effects of instrument-assisted myofascial release and movement and mobilization on grip strength. Sixty healthy individuals aged between 18 and 40 who met the inclusion criteria were included in the study. Participants were randomized into the instrument assisted myofascial release group (n=30) and movement mobilization group (n=30). In the instrument assisted myofascial release group, instrument assisted myofascial release was applied to the wrist flexor and extensor muscles of the dominant side for a total of 10 minutes; In the movement and mobilization group, wrist flexion and extension movements were performed with the active participation of the individual, in 3 sets of 10 repetitions in both directions. Before starting the applications and after the end of the session, the rough grip strength of both groups was measured with the help of a hydraulic hand dynamometer (Jamar® Hydraulic Hand Dynamometer, USA). Grip strength after application was found to be high in both instrument assisted myofascial release and movement mobilization groups (respectively, p=0.014; p=0.002). There was no superiority or gender difference between the grip strength increase of both groups (p>0.05). An acute increase in grip strength was found in female individuals in the movement mobilization group (p<0.05). No correlation was found with grip strength in terms of total (n=30) age and body mass index and gender (n=15). As a result; It was found that the effect of two different manual applications applied to healthy individuals on grip strength was positive and the same. On the basis of percentage change; There is no difference in the change between the groups, that is, the two applications do not have superiority over each other, but they have effects on increasing muscle strength.
