Abstract (EN)
The mobility of Ottoman scholars between regions of the Islamic geography and the scientific majlis where they come together with the scholars around them are the subject of discussions and conversations at different depths with the participation of scholars, military and political elites, students and people from the public. In this study, the content and discussion topics of the scientific majlis in the Ottoman period are examined. The aim of the research is to examine social functions of majlis and its relation with the scientific agendas of Ottoman scholars. For this reason, Taşköprülüzâde's Şakâikû'n-Nu'mânîye and the continuations of Mecdî and Atâyî were chosen here as the main resource group to study scientific majlis. The examples brought from Şakâikû'n-Nu'mânîyye and the continuations of Mecdî and Atâyî on the subject were evaluated with a classification considering the contents of the discussions. In conclusion, this study includes some observations and findings about their intellectual and social importance in the Ottoman intellectual world.
