Investigation of the handling decorations of historical mosques located in Samsun and its districts and artistic productions

Samsun and its districts have hosted many civilizations since ancient times and have traces of these civilizations. Architectural buildings have an important place in the city, which has a historical past. There are forty-five historical mosques among these structures. Seven of the mosques of historical value have original hand-carved decorations. In the thesis study, information about the construction techniques, materials, history and pencil works of historical mosques has been tried to be explained. The mosques in Samsun, Bafra and Vezirköprü were built in masonry style, while the buildings in Çarşamba and Kavak were built in wooden style. Wooden structures, with their unique shapes, constitute the original community of our architecture rising in Anatolia. Mosques and hand-carved decorations are destroyed in cases where the buildings in Samsun and its districts succumb to fire, earthquake or human intervention. The structures that are the subject of this study were examined in order to create documents for scientific conservation-repair studies of cultural products by experts or to ensure that the structures are recorded in advance in case of destruction. By examining the motif, color and anatomy features of the hand-carved decorations on the historical mosques in Samsun and its districts, restitution drawings were tried to be made in color and without color.
