Abstract (EN)
This thesis examines the historical and theoretical framework of the concept of propaganda and its multifaceted relationship with art, focusing on how this relationship is reflected in Erwin Piscator's political theatre. The primary aim of the study is to analyze how art functions not only as a field of aesthetic production but also as an ideological tool, through the example of Piscator's theatrical approach. The first chapter defines the concept of propaganda through the perspectives of various theorists, presenting its types and historical development within a chronological structure. The second chapter explores the interaction between art and propaganda, particularly within the context of mass communication tools and aesthetic strategies, evaluating cases in which art is used not merely as a form of expression but as a means of influence. The third chapter focuses on Erwin Piscator's life, intellectual development, and artistic vision within its historical context, emphasizing his pioneering role in shaping the concept of political theatre. The final chapter analyzes Piscator's staging techniques, play selection, and structural innovations in relation to propaganda, thereby revealing how the relationship between art and ideology is constructed on stage. The study is based on qualitative research, particularly literature review, and builds a comprehensive theoretical foundation through the use of national and international academic sources. In this respect, the thesis aims to contribute to research that investigates the relationship between art and politics through historical examples.
