Abstract (EN)

In the present day, technological advancements have ushered in a new phase in the design of educational materials. Traditional printed and physical resources have increasingly been replaced by digitally based instructional tools that emphasize visual design and are integrated with technological devices. This thesis investigates the effectiveness of an augmented reality (AR)-based mobile application developed as an alternative to traditional teaching methods in the context of art and design education. The focus of the study is to enhance students' perception of three-dimensional objects, their level of understanding of perspective topics, and their motivation to learn. The research was conducted with 30 students enrolled in a fine arts program and was structured using an experimental design. Participants were exposed to both traditional teaching methods and the AR-supported teaching process; data were collected using Likert-scale measurement tools and the Mental Rotation Test (MRT) administered to students before and after both processes. The findings show that the AR-based application improved students' three-dimensional perception skills, enabled them to better understand perspective topics, and positively affected their learning motivation. In this thesis, it has been demonstrated that AR-supported mobile applications are effective digital learning tools, particularly for topics requiring spatial visualization and conceptual abstraction.
