Abstract (EN)

With the increase in the number of people in the world, excessive consumption occurs. For this reason, there is a great need for recycling, both for environmental and industrial waste. In 2014, with the establishment of the Sanliurfa Metropolitan Municipality Water and Channel Administration (ŞUSKİ) General Directorate Central Wastewater Treatment Plant (MAAT), two biogas-powered cogeneration facility, established in Akçamescit Village, an energy efficiency analysis of its use in electricity generation and water heating was carried out. In accordance with the values published in the Official Gazette, measurements were taken at a flow rate of 113 169 m3/day, 4.85 mg/l BOD5 and 33.45 COD mg/l and 5 mg/l SSM with 7.13 pH and 12.89 oC, discharge into Karakoyun Stream. 2020 maximum wastewater flow rate: 4 263 864 m3 and Biogas as 3 181 578 m3. As seen that the biogas increases with the increase in the wastewater flow rate and decreases with the decrease. Biogas has a lower calorific value of 6388.278 kcal/m3, which contains 45.3% methane. MWM brand TCG 2016 model V-type 16-cylinder biogas engine was run at fixed 1500 rpm, and it was ensured that NOx values were especially low at 500 mg/Nm3 and has 800 kW. Electrical efficiency was 41.6%; while thermal efficiency is 46.3%; Specific fuel consumption is measured as 180 g/kWh. Emission values were measured as 13.167 ppm CO, 6.214% CO2, and 1.68 and 405,334 oC EGT. The average biogas is produced as 1 619 330 m3 and the electricity average is 3 928 567.00 kW. The electricity drawn from the network is as 2 285 969 kW. In the Lifetime cost analysis, both the Cumulative Return on Investment and the Lifetime Cost Analysis calculations confirm each other, with a turnover of $5 720 733.74 in 50 years and that it will pay for itself at the end of 12 years. Especially for the equipment of both the wastewater treatment plant and the cogeneration plant of the ŞUSKİ plant, Thermodynamics I. and II. Law analyzes were simulated by means of the EES package program. While the efficiency in the Wastewater Treatment Plant varies between approximately 90% and 99%; In the cogeneration system, the efficiency is between 50%-99% for each component separately.
