The perceptions of senior high students regarding the lessons, in which activities chosen from history of mathematics are used on the subject of numbers learning area

The goal of this research to find that what kinds of effects using the history of mathematics in learning and teaching mathematics to mathematics lessons.For this goal, the answer is searched for the question ?What are the perceptions of senior high students regarding the lessons, in which activities chosen from history of mathematics are used on the subject of numbers learning area? ?.The research was done with eigth students who studied in a super high-school of a goverment. The ideas of students compered by phenomenographic method, were seperated to categories and commented in the analysis of datas.As a result of the research, it was seen that all the stunents? ideas are positive on integrating history of mathematics to the mathematics lessons. All the students who join to the research have state that Math is diffucult, but they don?t feel the math lesson as maths in which history of maths was used, and they found it easy and enjoyable, also interesting. According to them, mathematics which contains more diffucult and complex things is a hard lesson to understand.Common idea of the students in a research is that including the history of math in math classes helps the teorems and logic of maths to be understood beter. Students think tahat history of maths adds meaning to the lesson as it shows how maths existed and how it improved in time.The answer to the question where to use history of maths in maths lesson vary. Some say we sould use it at the beginnig of the lessons and some say we should use it at the and of the class. And some say it should be used whenever neded.
