Abstract (EN)

Aside from its pervasiveness, whereby it affects as much as 20% of the world's population, depression continues to be one of the most important psychiatric problems due to the loss of power caused by disrupting daily life functioning, economic consequences, and high suicidal tendency. A diagnostic system based on biochemical techniques for major depression has not yet been developed. In this study, we aimed to identify the proteins in serum samples that change during depression with the major depression model created by forced swimming test in rats. Serum samples taken from 14 animals, as divided by depression and control groups, were separated by chromatographic methods and then compared with 2D electrophoresis. After the two-dimensional electrophoresis, a total of 9 potential diagnostic protein sequences were identified, which differed in their expressions with computer software. During the last phase of the study of the MALDI-TOF analysis, the sequences of points identified differentially among the groups were determined by calculating the durations of amino acid residues in the electrical field. By comparing protein expressions with significant differences among them, it was concluded that 9 different points could be used together as a potential biomarker.
