The Effect of Multiple Intelligence Model to the Understanding of Photosynthesisand Respiration Subjects and Attitude to Science of Eighth Class Students(Master of Science Thesis)Fatma Nur DİLEKGAZI UNIVERSITYEDUCATIONAL SCIENCES INSTITUEOctober, 2006The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of multiple intelligencemodel to the understanding of photosynthesis and respiration subjects and attitude toscience of eighth class students.This study which is an experimental research has been performed for fourweeks with 60 students who are eighth class students of Gülen Muharrem PakoğluSecondary School in Ankara during the second semester of 2004-2005 academicyear.The equivalent experimental and control groups that will show the examplesof the research are randomly selected. While the lessons are performed traditionallyto the students which are in the control group, the lessons are performed according toteaching techniques based on multiple intelligence theory to the students that are inthe experimental group of research.vIn the early stage of the research, ?PreKnowledge Test? is used to decide thepreknowledge status of the students in the experimental and control groups, ?SuccessTest? is used to decide conceptual cognition related to subjects and ?Science AttitudeTest? is used to decide the attitude of the students to science. At the end of the study,?Success Test? and ?Science Attitude Test? are used as final tests to decide theeffects of Traditional Teaching Methods and Multiple Intelligence Theory tostudents? success and attitude to science. All of the lessons and applications areperformed by the researcher.SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) computer software is used toevaluate the results gained from the research. T-test analysis is used to test thehypothesis of the research.It is seen that according to the results of the research and the statisticalanalysis of these results, Multiple Intelligence Theory adds a considerable amount ofgain to the understanding of photosynthesis and respiration subjects of eighth classstudents.
