Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to investigate the mistakes and misconceptions of 8th grade students about "Slope in mathematics curriculum and to offer solutions. For this purpose, 165 students in 8th grade of 4 different public schools in Palandöken district of Erzurum formed the sample of the study. The students who make up the sample are all students present at the school on the day of the study. In order to determine the students' error and misconceptions about the slope, the Slope Test consisting of 7 multiple-choice questions and 8 open-ended questions suitable for the gains was created. While preparing the "Slope test", expert opinions were applied and after the pilot application, validity and reliability studies of the test were conducted. In this research, "Slope Test" was applied to the students and this test was used as a data collection tool. The descriptive scanning method was used to obtain data and interviews were conducted with the students who were deemed necessary. The obtained data were analyzed by descriptive analysis and content analysis. According to the results of the research, the errors and misconceptions of the students were examined and after the results were presented, various suggestions were made. 2019, 67 Pages Keywords: Slope, misconceptions, 8th grade students, mathematics education.
