This research aims to produce a critical edition and analytical study of the manuscript Al-Jamʿ bayna al-Tawḥīd wa al-Taʿẓīm by Shams al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd alMalik al-Daylamī (d. after 589 AH, may Allah have mercy on him). The manuscript is an Arabic abridgment of a larger work originally authored in Persian, which the scholar deemed necessary to present to students of knowledge in Arabic. The treatise explores two divine attributes: the exclusive oneness of God (tawḥīd) in a manner befitting His majesty, and his absolute worthiness of glorification (taʿẓīm) in all His attributes. The author affirms that God is more singular than any singularity and more unique than any uniqueness, and that He alone is worthy of boundless majesty—limitless and beyond human comprehension. As the Qur'an states: "There is nothing like َ ْی َس َكِمث "Him unto ل ﴿ ْ شيَ لِ ءٌ ْ ،) ﴾Qur'an 42:11). In his work, al-Daylamī adopts two methodological approaches: that of the philosophers and theologians, and that of the Sufi gnostics. He structures the book into ten chapters, wherein he defines the concepts of tawḥīd and taʿẓīm, outlines the divergent views regarding their meanings, and examines the varying theological positions on how these attributes are affirmed for God. He emphasizes that a Muslim must not incline toward tawḥīd in a way that negates divine attributes, nor toward taʿẓīm in a way that leads to anthropomorphism. Rather, the proper path lies in harmonizing both principles. The author dedicates one chapter to the manifestations of God's majesty, and another to the aspects of His oneness. In these, he discusses his philosophical stance on attributing time and space to God— though not in the manner of created beings. He supports his arguments with both rational philosophical proofs and transmitted religious evidence from the Qur'an, Sunnah, consensus of Muslims, and the reasoning of sound intellects. The work concludes with a closing section in which the author explains his motivation for writing the book, outlines its benefits, and identifies its intended audience.
