Abstract (EN)
When we explore basket weaving methods historically, at first look we notice the richness in our culture. However, there is source vii difficulties during researches. Historical informations about baskets and basketry in Turkish and World cultures were provided by means of this study. This craft which is the first handmade textile technics, continues today without mechanizing, with its early existence. Basket weaving method met the basical requirements of early people?s, such as covering, hunting, carrying and keeping feed. As a result of used technics and requirements, later it had became a step for development of weaving technics. In first chapter of this study, historical information was provided, and first evidences in the world were searched. In second chapter; materials which were used widespread in basket weaving, technics and forms were explored. Interactions between cultures were compared within this point of view, common properties were mentioned. In third chapter, recent situation of basketry had been tried to be assigned by considering historical development of basketry around Turkey and World. In fourth chapter, basket were explored as artistic work, contemporary basket interpretations were evaluated in Fibre Art Platform. Starting with the idea that Fibre art is one of the basical culture works of people, fibre art is one of creative arts of fien arts as well as it is nested with daily life.
