Abstract (EN)

The effectiveness of sepiolites as a coagulant for Adana Organized Industrial Zone was investigated and compared with ferric chloride. In these experiments, four sepiolite samples with different chemical compositions obtained from different regions of Eskişehir, Turkey were used. In all coagulation-flocculation experiments using sepiolites, it was apperent that the predominant removal mechanism varies with the pH and chemical components of the sepiolites. In all jar test experiments because of the high calcium content of SCN-1 (%66,6 CaO) sepiolite samples obtained with better results compared to other sepiolite samples and ferric chloride in COD removal. The highest removal efficiency of TSS, color and turbidity was attain all with SCN-4 sepiolite samples with high silicon and ferrous (%72,3 SiO2, %15 Fe2O3) content.
