Abstract (EN)

Band saw machines are one of the widely preferred cutting systems in the transformation of metal and alloy materials into semi-finished or finished products. Band saws are at the first stage of production processes and offer more economical solutions compared to other cutting methods thanks to their structural features. In particular, the thin structure of the band blade provides economical cutting opportunities by reducing material waste. The precision of the cutting process contributes to the reduction of labor costs by minimizing the subsequent process steps. Considering the increasing production costs, the fact that the cut parts can be used as final products increases the importance of cutting quality and surface precision. In this study, the optimization of the surface roughness values obtained as a result of cutting three different metal materials at three different cutting speeds and three different feed rates with a band saw bench widely used in the manufacturing sector was carried out. In the experimental study, the Taguchi method was applied in order to obtain effective results by reducing the number of experiments. The surface roughness of the cut samples was determined with surface measuring devices and the obtained data were evaluated with variance analysis (ANOVA) and the optimum cutting parameters were revealed. Keywords: Cutting parameters, optimization of cutting parameters, band sawing, optimization, surface roughness.
