Abstract (EN)
PURPOSE: Examining the effect of boric acid and calcium fructoborate on cervical cancer cell line. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Hela human cervical cancer cell line was optimized under appropriate conditions and produced in the Medical Biology Department of Celal Bayar University School of Medicine and cell culture studies were carried out. After the necessary growth conditions were met, these cell lines were given different concentrations of boric acid and calcium fructoborate. Optimum concentration values (IC50 values) at which the cytotoxic effect was monitored were determined by MTT cytotoxicity tests, and these IC 50 doses were administered to the cells and cell migration conditions were evaluated. The amount of cell apoptosis was measured with Annexin-5. BA and CaFB 's Total Antioxidant Status and Total Oxidant Status tests were performed to examine the effects on the Hela cancer cell line. BA and CaFB 's Genes were analyzed by real-time PCR to determine their effects on apoptosis-related genes in the Hela cervical cancer cell line. The collected data were statistically analyzed using GraphPad. It was evaluated graphically using Prism (version 9) and Microsoft Excel programs, and with histogram graphics using Image J program. RESULTS: BA and CaFB were observed to have anti-proliferative effects by exerting cytotoxic effects and triggering apoptosis on the cervical adenocarcinoma Hela cell line. CONCLUSION: BA and CaFB had cytotoxic effects on Hela cervical cancer cell lines, by affecting through various apoptotic pathways, and induced apoptosis. BA and CaFB were concluded to be effective option in cervical cancer treatment. This result needs to be confirmed by animal and human studies. KEYWORDS: Cervical cancer, Target treatment, Boric acid, Calcium fructoborate, Apoptosis
