Abstract (EN)

In this study, we aimed to evaluate the histologic results of patients who had negative cervical smear results but positive HPV typing and random quadrant sampling with or without lesion on colposcopy. The study was carried out on 118 patients between 21 and 65 years old who referred to Ege University Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic smear result 'negative HPV positive cytology' between July-December 2017. Colposcopic examination was performed using the Reid index after each patient's consent was obtained. Subsequently, endocervical canal sampling and cervical biopsy were performed. Each patient was cleaned with 5% acetic acid (circulating acidic substance) and the cervix and vaginal dome, and a dye called lugol solution was applied. If there is a pathological lesion as a result of the staining, there is no pathological region. If there is no pathological region, biopsy specimens and endocervical curettage are performed separately. We also evaluated the relationship between different colposcopic findings and histologic abnormalities of different HPV subtypes (types 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, etc.). Statistical packages for social sciences (SPSS Inc., Chicago, Ill., USA) were used for statistical analysis. In all statistical evaluations, α error level was taken as 0.005 and p≤0.05 was considered significant. As a result of the study, it was determined that biopsy results were consistent with the prediction of colposcopic histology according to the Reid index. CIN2 + lesion rate was found to be 17.78% in HPV 16-18 positive cytology negative cases. The rate of CIN2 + lesion was 22.03% in cases with HPV 16-18 negative positive cytology negative. When we compare the distribution of CIN 2+ lesions, it is not statistically significant to compare colposcopy with other high-risk HPV positive subtypes with high risk HPV 16-18 positivity. It was determined that colposcopy was necessary for all HPV positive patients without discriminating the type with our study. Keywords: Cervical Swab, HPV, Cytology, Colposcopic Bleeding, Biopsy
