Abstract (EN)
Objective: This research was conducted to predict the success of quitting smoking and evaluate the health perceptions of patients who applied to the smoking cessation clinic. In this context, it is aimed to predict the possibility of individuals quitting smoking, to guide physicians in the treatment process, and to encourage more people to quit smoking by determining appropriate treatment methods. Results: Of the 185 people participating in the study, 132 (71.4%) were men and 53 (28.6%) were women. For those over the age of 35, compared to those aged 35 and under; Marital status of married people compared to single people; The smoking status of those with primary education or lower was found to be statistically significantly higher than those with high school and above (p<0.001). When comparing the scores of the Health Perception Scale and its subscales, certainty and the importance of health in the gender variable; Precision and total score in the occupation variable; Self-Awareness and total score in the marital status variable; Regarding the education level variable, a statistically significant difference was found between the groups in Center of Control, Certainty, Self-Awareness and total scores (p<0.05). The determination and readiness subscale scores and the total score of the Smoking Cessation Success Prediction Scale in those whose marital status was married were found to be statistically significantly higher than those who were single/divorced/widowed (p=0.021; p=0.027, respectively). In the second month of treatment, SBBÖS Determination and Readiness and SBBÖS total scores were found to be statistically significantly higher in non-smokers than in smokers (p=0.019; p=0.009, respectively). No significant relationship could be detected in terms of other parameters. Conclusion: According to the results of this research, the majority of individuals applying to smoking cessation clinics are generally 35 years old and over, male, married, have primary education level or less, have an income less than their expenses, have no comorbidities, and have a high level of nicotine addiction. In the second month of smoking cessation treatment, the Determination and Readiness subscales of the Smoking Quit Success Prediction Scale (SBBÖS) and the total scores of the SBBÖS were found to be higher in non-smokers than in smokers. This emphasizes that the Smoking Cessation Success Prediction Scale (SBBSS) can predict people's smoking cessation status and is thus a critical factor that provides physicians with important guidance in approaching their patients. As a result, SBBÖS scores of individuals applying to smoking cessation clinics should be evaluated and personalized services should be provided within the framework of a biopsychosocial approach.
