Use of pesticides against some biotic factors encountered in Siirt pistachio cultivation and opinions of producers

Although there are many species belonging to the Pistacia genus in the world, the pistachio (Pistacia vera L.) type is grown in the regions of our country, which are known to be high in terms of temperature total, as in other countries. In addition, it is one of the products with an important income share among the grown products. One of the important factors in obtaining a good yield in pistachio cultivation, which has a very wide production area, is the fight against diseases, pests and weeds. This study was carried out in order to reveal the control habits of the producers engaged in Siirt pistachio cultivation in Siirt province against some biotic factors (diseases, pests and weeds, etc.) and methods of struggle. In order to determine the grower to be included in the survey, the formula for proportional sample size was used. The sample size was determined as 96, based on a 95% confidence interval and 10% margin of error. 94.79% of the growers participating in our study used Siirt variety as sapling, 35.4% applied 6 x 6 distance as row and row distance, 91.7% did not irrigate, 100% pruned, 63.5% They did not disinfect tools and equipment while vaccinating, 69.8% applied twice a year spraying, 64.6% saw themselves as moderately knowledgeable about disease and pest control, and 73.96% had both the expiration date and the effective substance of the drug while choosing drugs. 91.67% attach great importance to the recommendations of the Agricultural Engineer, 83% do not use chemical pesticides in weed control, 44.8% of the problem faced with the use of drugs and pesticides and the drug prices are high.
