Many studies are being conducted to diminish the impacts ofearthquakes and to eliminate their harmful effects as is the case in allengineerical constructions.This study aims to compare the seismic isolation practices to be used in theprevention of the harms in the tank against the impulsive and sloshing effectsof a tank subject to the liquid effect.It consists of six chapters. The introductory first chapter includes generalinformation about the purpose of the study and liquid storage tanks. In thesecond chapter, studies concerning seismic isolations are dealt with.İnformation is provided in relation to active and passive control. Modelsuggestions are emphasized. In the third chapter, in relation to liquid storagetanks and the effects to which they are exposed, liquid-tank interactions areconsidered. Also , previous studies are mentioned. The method of finite elementanalysis, a way of analysing the liquid-construction-base interaction, used inthe dynamic models is briefly described. In the fourth chapter, the essentialsregarding the dynamic analysis of the liquid storage tanks and the solutionbases of dynamic analysis are covered. The dynamic analysis of an exemplarymodel anchored fully to the base is done. The related axioms are presented. Inviithe fifth chapter, the solution of the models suggested via using the structuralanalysis programme SAP2000 in the framework of seismic isolation practices isprovided. In this solution the August 17, 1999 Kocaeli Earthquake İzmitMeteorology data, 1940 El Centro Eartquake data and 1994 Northridge dataare used.
