Abstract (EN)

This thesis investigates the relationship of cinema and architecture through; the cinematic concepts and techniques which inspires the approaches towards architectural projects. Cinema and architecture is always in process of re-define their relation on subjects as; movement, time, space and perception. Cinema is always in a search of finding ways to improve the narrative and the impact of image on the viewer. This search, in time, formed new techniques and concepts, which made cinema to become an effective medium of forming and presenting images. During this time many innovations have progressed moving camera, script, light, shadow, montage and computer animations are some of them. First section of the thesis will be the explanation of these concepts and setting out examples for the uses from movies which are considered innovative.Second section of the thesis will be investigating the interaction of cinema and architecture following their line of progress. At different time periods, architects have leaned towards and benefited from other disciplines to be able to move away from the dominating line of thought and design at architecture. In this process concepts and techniques of cinema have became an inspiration to architectural design. Second section will be investigating these concepts and the innovations in the field of architecture they have produced.Third section of the thesis includes an analysis of related architectural projects of different scales and types. Through these projects observations will tried to be made about the developing relation between cinema and architecture.
