The contributions of cinema students in the production of short film: A review in the context of fiction films 2012-2022

Owing to the developing technology and accessibility, cinema has become a place where everyone can easily participate, rather than being the field of professionals. In this case, with the development of digital technologies, cinema students can be more involved in the filmmaking process and tell their own stories. With the rapid development of technology, short film production has increased considerably in today's Turkey. Especially the Cinema and Television departments, which have increased in number recently, and the students studying in this department have had a significant share in this increase. These films, which are generally produced for festivals, try to reach the audience on many different platforms. The concept of short film has always been an important part of film festivals, although it has been exposed to many definitions and has not been fully grasped yet. Within the scope of this study, the relationship between student films, short films and short film festivals will be examined. In this context, what is wanted to be understood is the contribution of student films to the production of short films and the effects of this production on the production of short film festivals. In order to measure these effects in detail, the top 10 films that showed the most success in film festivals between the years 2012-2022 will be examined, the contribution of cinema and television education to production in Turkey will be mentioned, the place of student films participating in the festivals and their contribution to the organization of these festivals. will be investigated.
