Distribution of Sinop demirci workshop amphoras

The ancient city of Sinope has been of great importance for trade since the ancient times with its strategic location and natural harbor. In order to market the products produced in the city, there was a need for local production, which encouraged the public to produce amphorae. As a result of the surveys, workshops were determined for this production in the region. The most intensive production workshop is Demirci workshop. The first part of our thesis is the excavation history of the amphora workshops. In the second part, the amphora typology of Demirci production, which has the most clear production findings from these workshops, is examined together with clay properties. In the third section, the commercial route of the Demirci production amphoras was established and the distribution in the regions was determined according to the amphora types and in the conclusion part, a general evaluation was made according to the data of our research.
