Abstract (EN)

Aim: To radiographically compare the use of enriched bone graft matrix in sinus lifting during implant surgery with routine grafting methods in patients with insufficient residual bone height and sinus pneumotization in the maxillary posterior region, performed in Eskişehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery in the last ten years. Materials and Methods: Patients who applied to Eskişehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery between January 2014 and June 2023 and underwent sinus lift operation during implant surgery were included. There were 24 patients included in the study and divided into two groups of 12 patients. The first group underwent sinus lift operation with traditional methods, while the second group underwent enriched bone graft matrix (sticky bone). Three separate control films were obtained before, immediately after and 6 months after the operation. Existing bone loss was evaluated radiographically. Results: Of the 12 patients in the first group, 7 were female and 5 were male. In the second group, 9 of 12 patients were female and 3 were male. The patients were non-smokers and did not have any systemic diseases that could adversely affect implant surgery and sinus lift operation. When the films taken immediately after the operation were analyzed, the bone gain of the first group was found to be higher than the second group. In the control films taken at 6 months after the operation, the bone loss of the first group was found to be higher than the second group. The mean bone gain in Group 1 was 11.94 mm, while that in Group 2 was 10.15 mm. In the post operative period, there was a significant difference between the bone gains in Group 1 and Group 2, and the bone gain level in Group 1 was significantly higher than that in Group 2. When the bone loss at 6 months post operatively was analyzed; the loss observed in Group 1 was 2.61 mm, while the loss observed in Group 2 was 1.07 mm. The loss of group 1 was significantly higher than group 2. Conclusion: According to the radiographic evaluation at 6 months post operatively, the mean bone resorption was less in the second group. In other words, bone gain was higher in the second group using enriched bone graft matrix (sticky bone). More studies are needed for clearer clinical results regarding the use of I-PRF.
