Abstract (EN)
Cartoons act as carriers of certain meanings and mediate theproduction of a meaning. Most of time, cartoons stand for declaration of?things? that cannot be sait, building up the realities by means of sings,presenting new readings about the leaders and mediating for certainmessages.Semiology, in this context, stand before us as both an ?examination?and a method to ?create? a menaning. Cartoons present what is meant to besait to the reader, in a web of relations knitted with signs within a certainwholeness of meaning, and they mediate certain messages in the fictionalworld created by the caricaturist.Within the study context, political cartoons, poblished in newspaperslike Hurriyet, Cumhuriyet and Tercuman before 1987 Publich Elections, wereexamined; the reality, prsented by these cartoons using creative andsymbolic bigns about political actors in the systemk, reconstruction andleaders, was investigated.Keywords: Semiology, linguistics, cartoon, political leader.
