Abstract (EN)

An important dimension of participatory rights in the administration of the state as the most important and indispensable feature of contemporary democracies is political participation. The concerns and activities of people in politics in line with their emotions, thoughts, values, and attitudes are generally regarded as political participation. The political culture of and its conception can differ between societies and they could influence the style, span, and level of political participation. Political culture consisting of peoples' emotions, perceptions, and attitudes towards the political system constitute the foundation of their differing styles of behaviours. Citizens' approaches and views towards politics may also show differences due to the differences in family life, age, sex, occupation, economic situation, and level of education. In the first part of this study the concept of political culture with their dimensions which influence political participation of people is conceptualised and analysed. In part two, political behaviours and factors that influence and shape those behaviours of citizens are examined to point out the links between political culture and political participation. Finally part three contains the field work of this study in which the conceptual and theoretical arguments and suggestions examined in the previous sections were put into application to be tested in -and to explore- the context of Kütahya province of Turkey. With a large sample of questionnaire survey we aimed at bringing the theory and facts together to make a complete and meaningful work which may help those who want to understand the style and span of political participation in Kütahya which lacks an academic study of this sort.
