The theory of double reading in the political theory: Transversal struggles, in the period of between 1980-1990 in Turkey

In the oppositional dichotomies such as signifier/signified, presence /absence, double reading as a strategic practice of deconstruction argues the primacy of the former on the latter. First reading consists of the repetition of the sovereign interpretation in accordance with the protocols of the text. Second reading breaks the law by revealing the closures of thepossibilities of the text.This analysis belonging to Derrida is adapted to the international political theory by Richard Ashley in his work on sovereign/ anarchy dichotomy. According to him internal struggles menacing the sovereign identity called transversal struggles are repressed leaving no mark to anarchy in its constitution.In this work, the researcher aims at examining two dichotomies (Turkish/Kurdish, Male/Female) as examples of transversal struggles in 1980-1990. By using double reading method it is asserted that the former is privileged on the latter. Formed on ethnical and patriarchal basis the sovereign identity undermined is deconstructed.
