Financing of politics and financial reporting for political parties

Political parties have expenses in order to continue to their activities and be successful in elections. For compensating these expenses, parties need financing sources. But in most of the countries, while political parties acquire those sources, they may apply to both legal and illegal ways. In order to eliminate the political corruption, transparency must be increased. For this reason in the reality that political parities are not-for-profit organizations, financial statements that they prepare have to show all assets, liabilities, incomes, expenses and cash flows in an appropriate and detailed way. Also, indirect financing have to be formed and soft money must be eliminated for providing the transparency. In this study, financial statement samples for political parties in Turkey are suggested.
