Abstract (EN)

This research main objective is to determine whether or not organizational dissent is an intermediator in the relationship between job security perception and professional self respect of elementary school teachers. This research has been conducted using a descriptive-relational model. The population of the research consists of elementary school teachers in Amasya city center working in public schools managed by Ministry of National Education, Turkey. Since this population is accessible, this research has been conducted on 211 elementary school teachers from 14 elementary schools located in Amasya city center. The data collection tools used in this research are; "Personal Information Form", "Professional Self Respect Scale" defined by Arıcak (1999), "Organizational Dissent Scale" defined by Kassing (2000) and "Perception of Job Security Scale" defined by the author. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS 22 and AMOS 23. Parametric tests have been used in this research determination that skewness and kurtosis values have a normal distribution. Simple correlation methods have been used to interpret the relation between two variables. The relationship between dependent and independent variables of this research has been tested path analysis within SEM. Furthermore, YEM analysis has been used to see whether organizational dissent has an intermediator effect or not. Based on statistical findings, our conclusions are; perception of job security and Organizational Dissent Scale in elementary school teachers in total, Vertical Dissent and Horizontal Dissent subdimensions, are in "I agree" level. In addition, elementary school teachers are more likely to show vertical dissent behavior than horizontal behavior. For elementary school teachers, Professional Self Respect Scale in total, and in Embracing The Profession, Value of Profession and Belief in Functionality of Profession subdimensions are in "I definitely agree" level. In addition, Value of Profession subdimension had the highest average for elementary school teachers. Our final conclusion would be; there is a positive and low relation between perception of job security and professional self respect. Professional self respect of elementary teachers can be predicted by perception of job security. It is concluded that organizational dissent can be a partial intermediator between perception of job security and professional self respect. It is also concluded that Vertical Dissent subdimension can be a partial intermediator in the relationship between the perception of job security and the Belief in Functionality of the Profession subdimension. Key Words: Professional self respect, organizational dissent, job security, elementary school teacher
