The relations between Republic of Turkey and people's Republic of China after cold war

After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the regional and global strategies to be followed by the People?s Republic of China (PRC), which has always been a great power throughout the history, which has given to the Asia the color of its race and which has been making a rapid progress in order to be economically the biggest, are gradually gaining importance. In this study, the policies followed and likely to be followed by the PRC after the Cold War and their impacts on Turkey have been examined. I have tried to analyze whether the PRC will use the power (it will gain via its developing economic structure) in order to be integrated into the system or it will challenge the system in order to be the biggest. I have also tried to put forward the PRC?s strategy of being a global power. To this end, the economic, political, energy and military policies of the PRC have been examined and certain foresights have been introduced about the future of the country. The economic development of the PRC and its capability to maintain continuity in economy depend on the energy it will obtain. Therefore, this study reviews the Chinese foreign policy towards the main sources of energy such as the Middle East, Central Asia and Caucasus, and its struggles in these regions with other powers. It appears that the Middle East, Central Asia and Caucasus policies of the PRC are increasingly affecting Turkey. In this context, I?ve tried to study the impacts of the Chinese policies on Turkey and the policies that Turkey should follow towards the PRC. Furthermore, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization that gains influence in the international policy, enlargement policy of the organization, its internal problems and future have been examined, and some estimates have been made about how Turkey should 2 behave toward this organization. Turkey, who tries to shape her relations with the West through her EU candidacy and NATO membership, must play her cards regarding the Central Asia, the Far East and The Third World Countries very well as a necessity of the alternative strategy. Within this scope, this study both examines the policies of the PRC, the most important power of the said regions, and tries to cover the literature deficiencies in Turkey towards this country. This study renders possible the assessments about today and analyzes the dimension of the impacts of Chinese policies on Turkey.
