This study is prepared to determine the terms of open pit mine at Koyunağılı (Mihalıççık-Eskişehir) coal basin E sector for meet the coal need of YunusEmre Thermal Power Plant, which is being established by private sector, with a capacity of 2x145 MW. According to 24 pcsdrilling, made in E sector, the coal layer input depth is designated 40 meter sand output depth 43 meters. The average thickness of the coal layer in the sector was determined to be 1.80 meters. According to results of the analysis of samples obtained from the drillings, the average calorific value of coal was determined 2170 kcal / kg. Result of information obtained from the drilling and other pre-studies was assessed and a new open pit planning has been performed. Before start to operate mine, some factors such as geography, legal status, geology, reserve, mining conditions, excavation-loading machines and cost were studied. Reserve calculation was conducted with the aid of the data obtained from drilling results. E sector open-pit mine project was prepared, taking into consideration results of geological surveys and drilling.
