Abstract (EN)

In the scope of the study, it was aimed to investigate the effect of the water repellent application on the performance characteristics of the fabrics produced with chenille yarns having different constructions. For this purpose, firstly 6 different chenille yarns were produced with 3 different pile raw materials (polyester, acrylic and viscose) and 2 different pile heights (0,8 mm and 1,2 mm). Then the yarns were used in the weft direction, and upholstery fabrics were produced keeping constant all other weaving parameters. Water repellent finishing applications were applied to the fabrics with 60% and 80% impregnation rates. The softness, friction fastness, abrasion resistance, water repellency, water repellency after abrasion and seam slippage properties of the sample fabrics were tested according to the relevant standards and the results were evaluated statistically and graphically. As a result, it was determined that the water repellency finishing application has been affected the abrasion resistance, seam slippage and softness properties positively. However, these properties have been affected by the parameters such as impregnation ratio, pile raw material and pile height in different ways. Key Words: Chenille Yarn, Chenille Upholstery Fabrics, Water Repellent Finishing, Abrassion Resistance, Seam Slippage
