The effects of social skills training on social adjustment of elementary school students.

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to search the effects of Social Skills Training on the social adjustment of elementary school students. The sample of the study includes 38 students studying in the 4th and 5th grades (18 girls and 20 boys). In this research, pre test-last test research model with control group has been used. This study has been made on two control and two experiment groups. In this study Walker-McConnell Social Competence and Personal Information form improved by the researcher has been used. During the study, the experiment group has taken the social skills training program in ten different sections. The analyse of the data has been found by comparing control and experiment group. In conclucion, it?s been found that; Students social adjustment has changed meaningfully according to the students classrooms, sexes, mothers and fathers education levels, jobs, incomes of the family, students successes, teachers sexual and martual statusl and work year. The last test point of WMC-SYOUO Same Old Prefential Social Behaviour Sub-Measure of the 5th grade has changed meaningfully in favour of the experiment group but there hasn?t been a meaningful change in favour of the 4th grade experiment group. Between pre and last test points of the 5th grade students WMC-SYOUO Teacher Preferential Social Behaviour Sub Measure, there has been a meaningful difference.
