Services offered to the disabled in the context of social municipal work: Exsample of İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality

It is crystal clear that in the Republic of Türkiye, which is developing, growing and with a constantly increasing population, even though the central government aims and strives to offer services in the context of social policies, it's hard to put into practice these services without the involvement of local administrations. That situation has created the exigency of central government's support to municipalities with respect to resolve the needs and problems of citizens. After that 'Social Municipalities' step in. In that study; the concept of 'Social Municipality', functions of 'Social Municipality', the short history of 'Social Municipality' in the Republic of Türkiye, legal groundwork of 'Social Municipality', concepts of disabled and disability, services offered to the disabled in the context of 'Social Municipality', legal foundations of central and local administrations' social services are examined and explained. Eventually in the context of 'Social Municipality' Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's social services to the disabled is investigated and evaluations are made in the light of collected data.
