Abstract (EN)

Values are the phenomenon that helps the individuals and society to stay as one and that are passed down generations to generations. Social studies class has an importance because of its social concept and values should be taught in this concept. Teachers and student teachers hold the same importance in the teaching-values concept. Student teachers are the ones who will shape the future and their self-perception, their awareness on their qualifications, and their self-respect are very critical on this subject. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships between student teachers' value perceptions and their self-respect. The sample of this research consists of 300 student social studies teachers who are students in Ankara and Aksaray Universities in the 2012-2013 school year. Three data gathering tools were used; "Personal information form", "Portre values scale", and "Self-respect scale" There is a statistical significance between student social studies teachers? values and their gender, their age, mothers' level of education, the school that they had graduated, and their income level. Additionally, However, fathers' level of education and where they live has no influence on their self-respect. Students social studies teachers' self-respect and their value perceptions are significantly correlated. However, there are no statistical significance between their self-respect and their gender, their parents' level of education, the school that they had graduated, income level, and where they live and their self-respect.
