Investigation of the relationship between professional competency perception and technological literacy levels of social studies teacher candidates

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the sense of Professional competence and technologic literacy level of social studies teacher candidates who intended to raise effective citizens who are capable of reaching information that has capacity for technological era, comprehensive accuracy of the information and use this information within the frame of codes of conduct. In this study, it is aimed to determine the level of technological literacy and perceptions of Professional competency of social studies teacher candidates and to analyze the relationship between these competences and candidates' demographic information. The research's working group is cconsisted of 378 Social Studies Teacher Candidates who are from different class levels and study in Faculty of Education, The Department of Turkish and Social Sciences Education, Program of Social Studies Education in 2021-2022 academic year. University of Nigde Omer Halisdemir, Nevsehir Haci Bektas Veli University and Aksaray University are included in this research. In the mentioned research, which is formed by using relational model as research method, demographic information form by the researcher of this study, "Technological Liteeacy Scale" by Yigit(2021) and "Teacher Candidates' Professional Competency Scale" by Yengin Sarpkaya, Altun(2021) are utilised. Participants' scores of "Technological Liteeacy Scale" and "Teacher Candidates' Professional Competency Scale" are attempted to reveal with Independent Samples T-test and One Way Anova according to university, gender, class level, having constant internet connection, liking teaching profession. As a result of this study, while it was determined a meaningful difference statistically in total scores gathered from "Teacher Candidates' Professional Competency Scale" with the variables of gender and liking teaching profession; it was not discovered a meaningful difference in the variables of university, class level, having constant internet connection. Moreover, while there was finded a meaningful difference in the total scores gathered from "Technological Liteeacy Scale" according to the variables of university, class level and having constant internet connection; there was not a meaningful significance according to gender and liking teaching profession.
