Specifying the communication skills of the social sciences teachers and examining them for some variables

Communication which is very important in human life is also very important in education life. So our teachers, whom are most important for our education life, should have good communication skills so that they can manage their educational goals.With this study, the communication skills of the Social Science teachers will be set and it is aimed to be determined whether it is related to the sex, occupational rank, the branch of graduation and the former education about communication skills. The universe of the research covers the Primary school Social Science teacher in 2012-2013 educational year in Malatya. With this research, 135 teachers have been attained. With the aim of determining the communication skills of the teachers, the Evaluation Scale of Communication Skills, developed by Fidan KORKUT, was used (Korkut, 1996a). Furthermore a short personal info form was used to get information about the sex, occupational rank, the branch of graduation and the former education about communication skills of the participants.To analyze the data, the Programme SPSS 16 was used. With the personal data, the percentage and the frequency techniques were used and with the subjects like likert, the arithmetic average and standart deviation techniques were used. To determine whether there are differences between teacher opinions, t-test and only way variation analyze (Anova) for parametric subjects and MWU and KWH tests for non-parametric subjects were used. To determine the differences between the groups, the Scheffe test for parametric subjects and Mean Rank tests for non-parametric subjects were used.In general, with the data we got with the research, it is obvious that the communication skills of the Social Science teachers are rather high. This situation is because of the being Primary School teachers and necessarily having good communication skills to teach their lesson.
