Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this thesis is to investigate the negative effects of social media addiction on young people and family relationships. "Attitude Scale on the Impact of Social Media on Young People" was used in the research. Within the scope of the field study, 402 voluntary participants aged 18 and over residing in Kocaeli filled out the questionnaire form online in accordance with random sampling. The results of the questionnaire form were analyzed in IBM SPSS 27 package program. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that the survey data were distributed into two factors. The first factor was named as virtual influence and the second factor was named as dependency. The total variance explained by the two factors is 63.242%. The first factor explains 40,194% of the total variance and the second factor explains 23,048%. The "Cronbach Alpha" reliability coefficient of the scale is 0.94. The reliability of the virtual influence factor is 0.94 and the reliability of the dependency factor is 0.81. As a result of the regression analysis, it was seen that marital status was effective in social media use and other demographic variables were not effective.
