Abstract (EN)
With the development of the Internet, changes have also occurred in information and communication technologies. One of the areas where these changes are most experienced is the use of social media. The use of the Internet has led to the emergence of social media, known as new media, alongside traditional media. In particular, the fact that smart devices such as computers and phones are a very important part of our lives and thanks to the fast mobile infrastructure provided to these devices, communication with social media has become easier. With the increase in globalization and the rapid development of technology, social media has become the focus of attention not only for young generations who are at peace with technology, but also for different age groups. Thanks to the internet, Baby Boomer, X, Y and Z generations use thousands of social media applications, communicate faster with the social environment, provide advantages and convenience to people, and cause widespread use. In the literature examined in this respect, there are various studies on the use and level of social media of Baby Boomer X, Y and Z generations. In this study, the continuity-competence and attitudes of Baby Boomer, X, Y and Z generations residing in the province of Elazig will be examined, making this study different from other similar studies.In addition, this study is important in terms of measuring the expectations and perspectives of Baby Boomer, X, Y, Z generations from the level of social media use. A total of 400 people, 100 from each generation, were included in the study. The collection of data in the research was carried out through a survey study. Social Sciences Statistics Program (SPSS) was used in the analysis of the data. In addition to these, 2 scales were used as Social Media Addiction Scale and Social Media Use Purpose Scale in the study. According to the results of the research, it was found that there was a difference between the reasons of the participants' social media use and their social media addiction.
