Use of minimalism movement in social media: Examining the role of graphic design principles and elements in social media

On Instagram, a social media platform rich in designs, designs are frequently shared to communicate with the masses. Communicating designs in an impressive and hierarchical order plays an important role in communication. This is where graphic design principles and elements come into play. Designs created with graphic design principles and elements increase the readability and interactivity of the content. Designs created in accordance with the principles and elements allow brands to appear reliable and professional. Complex, irregular and lacking in harmony designs that are not created in accordance with graphic design principles and elements can cause confusion in people. It may create visual fatigue in people as well as creating distrust towards the brand. This thesis examined in detail successful and faulty designs in terms of graphic design principles and elements. In this study, in which simple designs created in the light of Minimalism were added to the options on a group of thirty people, people were asked to make a choice between successful and faulty designs.
