Examination of the awareness of the concept of green management by the students of the faculty of sport sciences

Sustainability through Green Management means improving the quality of human life and protecting natural resources, and requires economic, ecological, and social objectives to be considered together. To solve the problem of unconscious use that causes resource scarcity, businesses should invest in green management and turn to management principles in line with environmental priorities. In this thesis, it is aimed to examine the awareness of the concept of green management among the students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences (Department of Physical Education and Sports, Department of Coaching Education and Department of Sports Management) in State and Foundation Universities both between universities and between departments within universities. The scales of Environmental Awareness, Environmentalism and The Effect of Green Marketing Mix Activities on Green Purchasing Behavior and Loyalty, which include propositions about the Awareness of the Concept of Green Management by the Students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, were used. Our study was conducted with the participation of a total of 911 university students (619 students at State University, 292 students at Foundation University) and was conducted using a questionnaire consisting of 62 propositions. As a result of the analysis of statistical data, there is a statistically significant difference between State and Foundation Universities about the awareness of the concept of green management. As a result of the comparison between the three departments in the same university due to the courses they take in State and Foundation Universities, we consider that the students of the Sports Management department are more conscious about the awareness of the concept of green management than the other two departments (p<0,05). However, as a result of our comparison of Sports Management department students in Foundation and State Universities, we suggest that more courses, activities, conferences and seminars should be given on the awareness of the concept of green management in State Universities.
