Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between digital game addiction and problem solving skills among students studying in Faculty of Sports Sciences The study encompasses all departments and classes within the Faculty of Sport Sciences. The sample group consists of 396 student, including 225 males 171 females, who are studying at the Faculty of Sport Sciences at Bozok University. Data collection tools include a Personel Information Form prepared by researcher, the Digital Game Addiction Scale for University Students, consisting of 21 questions and 3 sub-dimensions developed by Hazar and Hazar (2019), and Problem Solving Inventory, an adaptation by Şahin, Şahin and Heppner (1993) of scale developed by Heppner and Petersen (1982), consisting of 35 questions and 6 sub-dimensions.The descriptive frequencies (f) and percentages (%) of the personal characteristics of the sample group participants have been calculated. Normality tests of skewness and kurtosis were employed to determine the levels of digital gaming addication and problem solving skills. Following the demonstration of normail distribution of the data, independent sample t-tests were conducted for pairwise comparisons, Anova analysis was utilized for comparing more than two datasets, and correlation analysis tests were employed to elucidate the relationship between two scales. A significance level of p<0,05 was adopted to determine the meaningful differences in the data. When the effect of digital game addiction levels of sport sciences faculty students on their problem solving skills is examined, it is seen that the effect of digital game addiction on problem solving skills is positive and at a low level.
