Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine the career awareness of students studying in sports sciences at universities. The population of the research consisted of 640 students studying at Süleyman Demirel University, Faculty of Sports Sciences. The sample group consisted of 167 volunteers within the population. Participants were asked to fill out a personal information form and the professional career awareness scale found in the literature. The analysis of the data was done on a computer using the package program IBM SPSS 22.0 (Statistics for Windows Version). In pairwise comparisons, t-test was used for independent groups, and one-way analysis of variance was used for comparisons of more than two groups. LSD test was applied to reveal the difference. Pearson product moment correlation analysis (r) was applied to reveal the relationship between the scores obtained from the scales. In conclusion; While no statistically significant difference was detected in the professional career awareness of the participants according to the variables of sport type, active sports activity and place of residence, it was observed that their professional career awareness differed according to the variables of age, gender, department of education, and weekly working hours. A moderate positive relationship was detected between the academic achievements of the participants and the sub-dimensions of professional development disposition, professional readiness, career awareness and professional self-confidence of the total scale of the professional career awareness scale. It is thought that this situation may be due to the fact that sports science students, who have gained the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge and skills both with their sports background and during their university education, have similar characteristics in transferring this knowledge and skills to their future professional careers, and the differences that may occur may be due to individual differences.
