Determination of facility management capacities of sports facility managers

Today, efficient management of sports facilities is of great importance both for the protection of public health and the sustainability of sports. The aim of this research is to determine the management capacities of sports facility managers and to examine this capacity according to demographic variables within the framework of four basic dimensions (human resources management, financial management, operational management, and customer relations management). A total of 103 sports facility managers, 89 male and 14 female, working as sports facility managers within the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Turkey participated in this research conducted with the survey method. "Scale for Assessing the Management Capacity of Sports Facility Managers" was used in the research. The data was analyzed with the SPSS 26.0. Cronbach Alpha test was applied to measure the reliability levels of the scales in the research. Since the normal distribution assumption was not met in the analysis of the data, non-parametric tests Mann Whitney U test and Spearman correlation test were used. As a result of the research, p<0.05 was taken as the basis for the significance level. As a result of the research, it was observed that there was no significant difference in the management capacity in terms of gender, age, education, and professional experience years. It was found that there was no significant difference in terms of the type of facility in which sports managers worked in all dimensions except operations management, but there was a significant difference in the operations management dimension between managers working in multi-purpose sports halls and managers working in single-purpose sports halls.
