Abstract (EN)
This research was conducted to examine the effect of sports on the life skills of 300 volunteer personnel in an institution providing officer and petty officer training in Ankara. In addition, it was aimed to determine whether there is a significant difference in the effect of sports on life skills according to the demographic characteristics of officers / petty officers. The population of the research consisted of officers / petty officers working at the Gendarmerie Security Academy in Ankara in 2023-2024. No sampling method was used in the research, and the study was completed with a total of 318 serving officers / petty officers who accepted the research, and the demographic information form and the Impact of Sports on Life Skills Scale (SYBEÖ) model were used in the data collection tool. In interpreting the data, numbers, percentage distributions, standard deviation, mean, t test, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) model were used in two or more groups. Within the scope of the research, statistical significance was accepted as p<0.05. 34.6% of the participants in the research are between the ages of 18-30, 54.1% are between the ages of 31-40 and 1.3% are aged 51 and over. According to education level, 16.7% have an associate degree and 63% have an associate degree. 5% of them have a bachelor's degree, 18.9% have a master's degree and 0.9% have a doctorate degree. According to their ranks, 16.7% of the participants were officers and 83.3% were petty officers.Working hours of the participants were 5.3% less than 1 year, 9.7% between 1-3 years, 32.7% between 4-6 years, 17% between 7-9 years and 34%, 9 of them have been doing sports for 10 years or more, 47.5% do sports regularly while 52.5% do not do sports regularly, 59.7% do sports 1-2 days a week, 37.7% of them do sports for 3-4 days and 2.5% for 5-6 days. The gender of the participants is 20.4% women and 79.6% men. The total score average of SYBEÖ was found to be 124.18+18.130, and within the scope of the research, it was understood that there was no numerically significant difference in all sub-dimensions of SYBEÖ according to gender, age, educational status, number of days of sports, and sports hours (p>0.05); A statistically significant difference was found in the Time Management sub-dimension.
